Baseball Hall of Fame moves induction ceremony for Derek Jeter and 3 others to September — in front of a reduced crowd

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Former Chicago White Sox announcer Ken “Hawk” Harrelson’s moment in the sun at the Baseball Hall of Fame as the 2020 Ford C. Frick Award honoree will be held indoors next month in Cooperstown, N.Y.

The enshrinement of Derek Jeter, Larry Walker, Ted Simmons and the late Marvin Miller will be delayed until Sept. 8 and held before a reduced crowd as COVID-19 restrictions ease, the Hall announced Wednesday. The ceremony will take place outdoors on the Hall’s lawn as a ticketed event. Tickets will be available starting July 12.

The inductions were to have taken place in July 2020 but were postponed because of the pandemic.
