A last-minute goal gave Atlanta United a 1-0 win over Liga MX powerhouse Club América, but the scoreline wasn’t enough to advance in the Concacaf Champions League at Orlando’s Exploria Stadium on Wednesday night.
Academy product Jackson Conway burst off the bench in the final minutes of play, launching himself into the box for a game-winning header in the 82nd minute. The goal provided relief after Atlanta came inches away from scoring throughout the opening 80 minutes of the match, peppering the Club América goalkeeper with six on-target shots.
However, one goal wasn’t enough to make up for the first leg of the series between the two teams.
