Arsenal pulls out of Florida Cup due to COVID-19 cases

Arsenal will not participate in the Florida Cup after several members of the team staff tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of their flight to the United States.

The Premier League powerhouse was slated to compete against Inter Milan in the opening round of the tournament, which also includes Everton and Colombian side Millonarios.

Arsenal didn’t specify how many members of the club tested positive or whether any players were included in that group. However, the club confirmed in a statement that none of the individuals who tested positive have displayed symptoms of COVID-19 at this time.

“This difficult decision is based on ensuring the health and wellbeing of our players and staff,” the club said in a statement “We fully understand what a disappointment this is for our supporters in America who were looking forward to seeing us compete in the Florida Cup as part of our pre-season build up.
