She was crowned as individual champion of the unique Athletes Unlimited professional league, where players picked new teams each week, and celebrated that honor with her mom, dad, younger sister, and wife, WNBA basketball pro Natasha Cloud, by her side at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex just outside Chicago.
Ocasio choked up again Tuesday morning when her college coach, Tim Walton of UF, made a surprise (to Ocasio) appearance to congratulate her on a Zoom meeting press conference that included league officials and media.
“Aleshia, super proud of you, not only for what you do on the field but for everything you’ve done off,” Walton said with a big smile.
