AAC eliminates intraconference transfer policy

The American Athletic Conference has eliminated the league’s intraconference transfer policy, allowing athletes to transfer within the conference without losing a year of eligibility.

“This is an important decision that is in the best interests of our student-athletes,” AAC commissioner Mike Aresco said. “It will align the conference’s position on transfers with the expected significant change to the NCAA policy.”

Previously, any athlete who wanted to transfer within the AAC was forced to sit out a year. This change of policy eliminates that restriction.

The NCAA is considering legislation that would allow athletes who qualify to transfer at least once without penalty during their five years of eligibility.
