Xavier Crawford Picks Off Another National Honor

CORVALLIS – Oregon State redshirt-freshman cornerback Xavier Crawford added another postseason honor Monday by being named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America team.

The honor is the third for Crawford since the conclusion of the season. The Pittsburg, Calif., native had a Beaver team-high 50 unassisted tackles and overall was fourth on the team with 70 stops. He co-led the team with Treston Decoud for pass breakups with 10 and was the top freshman defender for the category in the Pac-12.

The public health major started all 12 games for a defense that made dramatic improvement from a year ago and will head into the 2017 season with players who accounted for 67 percent of the team's tackles in 2016 returning.
