GWANGJU, South Korea – Oregon State guard Sydney Wiese made a splash in her first international tournament, helping Team USA earn a gold medal at the World University Games in South Korea. Wiese and the USA squad locked down the first-place finish with an 82-63 win over OSU teammate Ruth Hamblin and Canada early Monday morning in Gwangju. Hamblin led Canada to a silver medal in the tournament, the team’s highest ever finish.
Wiese played 17 minutes in the gold medal game, hitting two of her four shot attempts on her way to five points and two assists.
