CORVALLIS – His voice already hoarse from an on-field celebration in which he said a spectator exuberantly tackled him, Oregon State cornerback Treston Decoud reveled in the unique joy of his final college game.
Decoud had been front and center in the week leading up to the Civil War against Oregon, using most possible opportunities to express his hatred of the Ducks. They told him by email they had no scholarship available after his final junior college season two years ago, and he never forgot.
But while the 34-24 victory at Reser Stadium on Saturday was a measure of personal vindication, his first comments acknowledged the history of the rivalry that had turned against OSU for so long.
