I've been in the business a long time, which has led to a certain cynicism about "players-only" meetings.
They have become a knee-jerk response for struggling teams, a sports cliche if you will.
The Oregon Ducks held a players-only meeting this week in response to consecutive losses to Nebraska and Colorado.
The O's Andrew Greif has the story:
The Ducks have lost consecutive regular-season games for the first time since 2007.
In a perfect world this would be an organic response on the part of the UO players to take responsibility for the situation in which they find themselves -- 2-2, with a Swiss Cheese defense, and heading to the Palouse to face Washington State's Air Raid.
