As news broke Sunday that the Power 5 conferences were likely to cancel the fall sports seasons, a twitter movement gained steam. Led by likely first overall pick Trevor Lawrence the #WeWantToPlay hashtag was shared by hundreds of college football players across the country. Many at first thought this could be in response to the movement by Pac 12 and Big 10 players who had threatened to opt out of the season previously.
As it turns out, it was not an oppositional movement, but a unified one. A few hours after the hashtag began, Lawrence and others shared the movements demands.
