CORVALLIS – While Oregon State men's basketball coach Wayne Tinkle has made his name on the West Coast, his heart has very much been in Chicago this fall.
Tinkle graduated from high school in Spokane before playing college basketball and coaching at Montana. But before his move west, he spent his childhood in Highland Park, Illinois and became a diehard Cubs fan after attending games in the Wrigley Field bleachers with his older siblings and parents. To save money, he said they would split a bag of peanuts among the big group of brothers and sisters and bring ham sandwiches.
