STANFORD, Calif. – Redshirt sophomore Venessa D'Arpino set an Oregon State record and placed second overall in the 200 meters on Saturday when she ran 23.83 at the Stanford Invitational.
D'Arpino became just the third Beaver to eclipse the 24-second barrier when she broke the old mark of 23.96, set in 1988 by Rosie Williams. Asa Pennington is the only other OSU sprinter to go under 24 seconds; she ran 23.97 in 1982.
D'Arpino now holds three school records. She set the 60 meter (7.55) and 400 meter (55.60) indoor standards earlier this year.
