USC's fast start sinks OSU

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Oregon State outscored USC 37-25 in the second half but it was a case of too little, too late as the Beavers fell 81-70 to the Trojans on Wednesday night in a Pac-12 Conference game at the Galen Center.

Senior guard Gary Payton II had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists and freshman guard Stephen Thompson Jr. added 16 points, four rebounds and two assists in his first career start to lead OSU (17-11, 8-9 Pac-12), which saw its two-game winning streak snapped.

Freshman center Drew Eubanks, senior forward Jarmal Reid and junior guard Malcolm Duvivier (pictured) had eight points apiece.
