SAN FRANCISCO – Travis Eckert has been named the Pac-12 Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Eckert was perfect through 6 2/3 innings Friday night, retiring the first 20 batters he faced in the Beavers’ 3-1 win over USC, helping pace Oregon State to a series victory over the Trojans. He ended the game having faced one batter over the minimum, scattering two hits and a run with five strikeouts.
The complete-game effort was the first of Eckert’s career, and the win improved his season record to 6-4.
The honor is the second of the season for Eckert, whose first came April 4.
