Berkeley, Calif. – Oregon State freshman forward Tres Tinkle (pictured) scored 22 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Beavers in an 83-71 setback at California on Saturday.
The Beavers (15-9, 6-7 Pac-12) trailed by 15 in the second half but mounted a rally and drew with 59-56 at one point, fueled by a 9-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from freshman guard Derrick Bruce, who established career highs with three 3-point baskets and 11 points.
They were still within 67-61 with 5:07 remaining, but could not maintain that momentum and Cal pulled away late for its 17th consecutive victory at Hass Pavilion this season.
