CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior guard Gary Payton II had 17 points and seven assists but Oregon State fell 82-73 to UCLA on Wednesday night in a Pacific-12 Conference game at Gill Coliseum.
Freshman forward Tres Tinkle added 15 points and eight rebounds in his first career start but the Beavers (11-6, 2-4) dropped their third consecutive conference game.
OSU trailed for the final 34 minutes after the Bruins (12-7, 3-3 Pac-12) took a 9-8 lead on a stickback by Tony Parker. The Beavers trailed 40-32 at halftime and never made a serious run at the lead after drawing within 46-43 with 15:17 remaining.
