STARKVILLE, Miss. – Sophomore guard Stephen Thompson Jr. scored 20 points in his return to the lineup but Oregon State fell 74-57 at Mississippi State on Thursday night in the opener of a two-game road trip.
Thompson Jr. played 30 minutes after missing the past six games with a foot injury. He was 9-for-16 from the field and scored in double figures for the 22nd time in 34 career appearances.
It was his second career 20-point game. Thompson Jr. fell just short of his career high, a 23-point effort at UCLA on March 5, 2016.
