SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Oregon State men's basketball team in an 86-78 loss to Utah on Saturday at the Huntsman Center.
The Beavers trailed 75-47 with 8:05 to play but mounted a furious comeback, outscoring the Utes 23-3 to cut the deficit to 78-70. They got as close as 84-78 before Utah made two late free throws for the final margin.
Thompson Jr. 22 of his 30 points in the second half. He went 8-for-18 from the field, including 3-for-8 from deep, and 11-for-13 from the free throw line to post a career high in points for the second straight game.
