SURPRISE, Ariz. – Jake Thompson tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings in his second start of the season, and the Oregon State offense erupted for 12 runs in the final four innings en route to a 14-0 victory over Kansas State Friday afternoon at Surprise Stadium.
Thompson limited the Wildcats to five hits and two walks while striking out seven. The right-hander was relieved by Jordan Britton in the seventh and received a standing ovation from a majority of the 2,643 in attendance at the Spring Training park.
Thompson, who tossed 91 pitches – 61 for strikes – earned the win to improve to 1-1 on the year.
