As a young beat writer in the mid-1980s, I remember the heavy southbound I-5 traffic on the Saturday mornings of an Oregon game against Washington in Autzen Stadium.
The difference between the traffic then and the traffic now is many of the cars in the 80s were decked out in Husky purple.
Many had stuffed Huskies peeking out of rear windows.
Those were the days when Autzen rarely sold out. UW fans were happy to snap up unsold tickets or pay inflated prices to buy from UO season ticket-holders looking to turn a profit.
