EUGENE -- Outmanned and stinging from consecutive lopsided defeats, San Jose State wasn't expected to provide much of a test for No. 20 Oregon.
To the surprise of many, the Ducks found themselves in a legitimate battle Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium. Oregon ultimately emerged with a somewhat comfortable 35-22 victory, but the Spartans proved a formidable foe under second-year head coach Brent Brennan.
"I think it's all encouragement, knowing we can play with a team like Oregon," quarterback Josh Love said. "Now we just have to carry it on and go into league knowing we can compete with anybody.
