VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. – Oregon State rising junior Spencer Tibbits advanced to match play at the prestigious U.S. Amateur on Wednesday.
Tibbits shot an even-par 70 on Pinehurst No. 4 on Monday and followed that with a 1-over 71 on the famed Pinehurst No. 2 to finish the 36-hole stroke play in a tie for 12th place with a 1-over 141. Play was halted Tuesday due to darkness but was completed early Wednesday morning.
