CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State starting right-hander Meehra Nelson allowed one run in a complete-game outing and the offense swatted nine base hits as the Beavers downed the Portland State Vikings, 9-1, in five innings at the OSU Softball Complex on Tuesday.
Each team manufactured a run in the first inning, as Portland State (11-22) opened the scoring with walk, single and double steal, and Oregon State (25-12-1) responded with three straight hits, capped by a Christie Langlois RBI single, to knot the score up at one all. The Beavers controlled the game the rest of the way, plating six runs in the second inning and two in the third while holding the Vikings scoreless down the stretch to seal the 9-1 win.
