Safety is the priority, but Oregon Ducks are wary of NCAA talks of eliminating the kickoff

EUGENE -- Before getting into why he thought getting rid of kickoffs was a bad idea, Oregon kickoff specialist Matt Wogan wanted to make something clear.

He gets it.

He gets why the NCAA began talks this summer to eliminate the play. Football is a dangerous sport, Wogan said. Injuries are unfortunate and trying to limit them isn't a bad thing.

But getting rid of the way that each drive of football has started since the inception of the game?

"Look, if you want to be safer, that's fine. I completely understand concussions.
