In front of 3,908 fans (a new single-game record for Goss Stadium), the Oregon State baseball team defeated the Northwestern State Demons 9-3 in their first game of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. OSU outhit the Demons 9-6 while both teams committed an error.
For the first several innings, it was a stalemate at Goss. Then in the third, Nick Madrigal opened the scoring with a soft dribbler that snuck between the shortstop and third baseman. That gave Jack Anderson and Steven Kwan enough time to score.
Kyle Nobach added to the lead with a two-run blast over the wall in left-center in the fourth.
