Payton II Sets Record In 66-62 Win Over Nevada

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior guard Gary Payton II shattered his father’s consecutive-game steals record and Oregon State held off Nevada 66-62 on Saturday before a Gill Coliseum crowd of 4,891.

Payton II set the school record with 10:06 to play in the first half when he swiped an errant pass by Nevada’s A.J. West. He finished with two and has two or more steals in every game this season.

He now has at least one theft in 38 consecutive games, breaking the OSU mark set by his father, former All-American Gary Payton, during the 1989 and 1990 seasons.
