CORVALLIS - In one sense, Jay Irvine acknowledged he has been humbled by the past two years.
The Oregon State redshirt sophomore cornerback expected to start last season before being surpassed in fall camp by future freshman All-American Xavier Crawford. Irvine then suffered a season-ending shoulder left injury four games into the season and was limited throughout spring practice.
Conversely, the Florida native says that he has never been more confident, which is indicated by his sense that he will likely start opposite Crawford in the Aug. 26 opener at Colorado State.
