Oregon State’s Devery Karz falls short of the Finals in Rowing

Oregon State’s lone olympian Devery Karz and teammate Kate Bertko raced in the lightweight women’s double sculls A/B semifinals Thursday morning. Needing a top-three finish to qualify for the finals and medal race the U.S. crew of Karz and Bertko fell short finishing 5th.

Wind was again a factor, the A/B semifinals were supposed to be raced yesterday, but instead were cancelled because of the poor conditions and moved to Thursday.

Devery Karz and Kate Bertko finished with a time of 7 minutes and 22 seconds. Despite failing to reach the medal final, The U.S. team will still race in the B-finals to determine the Olympic places of teams 7-12.
