BEND -- Titus Failauga does not want to brag. But the Oregon State defensive end relishes when he goes against left tackle Blake Brandel in 1-on-1 drills.
First, Failauga must "outsmart" Brandel, the athletic 315-pounder. Then, Failauga must use his strength and long arms to get Brandel off-balance.
"You have to have that grit," Failauga said. "Iron sharpens iron."
After one season at outside linebacker, Failauga is back in the trenches at defensive end. He's now part of a position group that Beavers coach Gary Andersen recently challenged publicly -- "quite frankly, there's been some disappointment .
