Friday night Oregon and Oregon State announced they would require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test to be able to attend games. The two schools are the first members of a Power 5 Conference to implement such measures, though Hawaii and Tulane instituted similar rules earlier this week.
As Covid-19 numbers continue to surge both in Oregon and nationwide, the state government has begun to reinstitute pandemic restrictions. The state of Oregon has averaged over 2,000 new cases of the virus a day in the past week, with the Delta variant now accounting for most cases.
