1. Defensive coordinator Kevin Clune pointed to “a million little things” that plagued the Beavers’ breakdowns in their 58-27 loss at Colorado State. Run “fits” (plugging potential holes) and tackling were the primary issues.
“It starts with me and getting the guys in the right place,” Clune said. “I was not expecting that (type of performance).”
2. But Clune also quickly pivoted to highlighting the positives from the season opener.
He noted the overall effort from players “was better than last year.” And he, like coach Gary Andersen on Monday, singled out the performances of linemen Titus Failauga and Kalani Vakameilalo and linebacker Jonathan Willis.
