1. The Beavers officially flipped from fall camp mode to game prep mode, with the introduction of the scout team providing the most noticeable indicator.
Arguably the most surprising players on the scout team were receivers Aaron Short, a junior college transfer, and Champ Flemings, a true freshman who had been viewed as a player who could immediately fill the void at returner. True freshman Tino Allen and walk-on Connor Laverty, meanwhile, were both practicing with the travel squad. Allen caught multiple passes during the portion that was open to the media, including a deep touchdown down the sideline from Jake Luton during 11-on-11 work.
