Gary Payton II has been added to the watch list for one of college basketball's highest honors.
Oregon State's senior point guard was named to the preseason Top 50 list for the John R. Wooden Award, the player of the year honor named after the Hall of Fame coach who won 10 national championships at UCLA.
The award is given to the best college basketball player in the country with at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA. Last year's winner was Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky. Click here for a complete list of winners.
