Oregon State Football: Tight End Rocco Carley Dismissed From Team For Use Of Racist Language

Oregon State head football coach Jonathan Smith has dismissed redshirt freshman tight end Rocco Carley from the team, after being made aware of an audio clip from the Mount Angel, Oregon native that contained racist and hateful comments.

Smith posted this statement on Twitter, detailing his decision.

Carley, a 6’ 6”, 240-pound tight end from Kennedy High School, was said to have used language described as “racist” by the Salem Statesman Journal in the clip, to “describe African Americans, homosexuals and people of the Muslim faith”.

Carley later issued a public apology for his actions on Twitter, via this post.
