Oregon State football hammered by California: Game at a glance

CORVALLIS - California had a stranglehold on Oregon State's offense for most of four quarters, holding the Beavers to 241 yards as the Bears rolled to a 49-7 win Saturday at Reser Stadium.

Oregon State (1-6, 0-4) lost its 13th consecutive Pac-12 game. Next Saturday, the Beavers look to end another long losing streak, a 22-game road drought when they play Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.

Chase Garbers, replacing Brandon McIlwain as Cal's starting quarterback, completed 17 of 26 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns. More important, Garbers led a Bears offense that had only one turnover after committing 14 the past three games.
