CORVALLIS -- The hip pointer that limited Oregon State inside linebacker Manase Hungalu to 43 plays Saturday also kept him out of practice Tuesday.
When he returned Wednesday inside the confines of the Merrit Truax Indoor Center, his fiery demeanor was on display after the OSU defense gave up another chunk play up the middle of the field. The senior team captain became animated on the sideline as a group of teammates separated him amid a blistering exchange.
Moments like that are not uncommon throughout the grind of a season. But for Hungalu, it was also an acknowledgement that the Beavers needed more from a struggling defensive unit that gave up more than 1,000 yards and 80 points through two games.
