BOULDER, Colo. — After Colorado's Kyle Evans had gashed Oregon State for six consecutive rushing plays midway through the first quarter, Beavers safety Devin Chappell bet Buffaloes quarterback Steven Montez would hand the ball off again.
Instead, it was a play-action fake, and a wicked one at that. And after Shay Fields ripped off a double move to fly past Chappell and spring free down the middle, Montez hit Fields for the 51-yard touchdown bomb.
And thus Colorado began its scoring splurge, making OSU's defense look like the 2015 unit that consistently broke down against the potent offenses in the Pac-12.
