The Oregon State Beavers coaching staff has made some missteps in the recruiting effort over the past two years, but perhaps none more inexcusable than its treatment of Clackamas senior wide receiver Cole Turner.
The 6-foot-6, 200-pound pass-catcher's recruitment was plagued by infrequent contact, mixed messages and ambiguity about the status of his scholarship offer.
This week, Oregon State interim head coach Cory Hall reached out to Turner and re-established contact, while also taking time to explain how and why his recruitment fell short the first time around.
"They just called me and told me that I had a committable offer, and they wanted things to be different this time around and they wanted me on their team," Turner said.
