CORVALLIS -- A lightly attended contest at Reser Stadium looked to be the sight of a Thursday night stunner, a victory years in the making for Oregon State football.
But after a fourth-quarter comeback by No. 20 Stanford, which secured a 15-14 victory, OSU once again came up short of its first Pac-12 victory after owning a halftime lead. The last-second defeat may go down as the most painful.
The loss dropped the Beavers to 1-7, guaranteeing Oregon State will finish with a fourth consecutive losing season. This extends the first sub-.500 stretch of more than two years since the Beavers had 28 losing seasons in a row from 1971-98.
