LEXINGTON, Ky. -- They turned back the third seed, and then the second. But the top seed proved too much.
Sixth-seeded Oregon State fell to No. 1 seed Louisville 76-43 in Sunday's Lexington Regional final, ending the Beavers' run through the NCAA women's basketball tournament in the Elite Eight.
The Cardinals (36-2) put it away in the third quarter, outscoring the Beavers (26-8) 28-12 in that crucial period. Louisville guard Asia Durr engineered the second half scoring outburst from the Cardinals, leading the way for her squad with 18 points and four assists. Myisha Hines-Allen added 16 points, and Sam Fuehring chipped in with 14.
