Oregon State Beavers football 2017 position battle to watch: Quarterbacks

As Oregon State moves closer to the start of fall camp, The Oregonian/OregonLive is breaking down the Beavers' roster by highlighting the prominent battles for playing time in each position group.

The overall storyline: The Beavers are still looking for stability at the sport’s most critical position, a luxury they haven’t truly had during Gary Andersen’s tenure. OSU has ranked near the bottom nationally in nearly every major passing category in each of the past two seasons, while three quarterbacks have played during each campaign. Andersen hired wide receivers coach Jason Phillips, whose background is in the Run ‘N Shoot and Air Raid, to help develop the passing game.
