CORVALLIS – Right knee on the turf and right hand leaning on his helmet, Kalani Vakameilalo simply stared into space before Oregon State's familiar postgame tradition.
The team gathered together in front of the student section on the east side of the field to sing the school fight song - once again following a loss.
Flanked by a pair of teammates Saturday, the sophomore defensive lineman stood and dutifully continued the ritual after a 38-24 defeat to Boise State. If his mind echoed his teammates' comments after the loss, he would have speculated how his group had once again played with such fervor for the final 30 minutes after allowing the matchup to get so out of hand.
