CORVALLIS - Gill Coliseum unveiled the latest element of its midseason internal renovations Thursday night in the form of a new sound system.
Installed during the Oregon State men's basketball team's two-week stretch away from its home court, a new and pulsating sound blasted during timeouts from the system made up of 28 2,200-watt amplifiers, 26 three-way loudspeakers and eight dual 18-inch subwoofers throughout the nearly 70-year-old arena.
The contrast was stark to the relative silence in the final minutes of the Beavers' 62-46 loss, as Stanford connected on each of its last six shots and pulled away to close out a game of which OSU once had control.
