Every loss hurts. But some, seem to linger in the minds longer than others and sting sharper for some reason. Maybe it’s a crucial turnover at the most inopportune of times. Maybe it’s a missed shot that would be made in almost every other instance. And sometimes, it’s just when the sheer will of a team isn’t enough at the end of forty minutes, despite their most valiant of efforts.
The latter seems to be what occurred on Sunday night in Tempe, as Oregon State fell to Arizona State in gut-wrenching fashion, 75-73.
With 37 seconds left in the contest and the game tied at 68, Sun Devils point guard Remy Martin drilled a clutch three-pointer to put the home team ahead and head coach Bobby Hurley’s squad would never relinquish the lead from there on out.
