CORVALLIS - After building a double-digit in under 13 minutes, the Oregon State men's basketball team never again let the margin get under 10 while cruising to a 99-82 season-opening win over Southern Utah.
The Beavers were aggressive throughout the night, creating driving lanes for layups and distributing to build an early lead despite not connecting on their first three-pointer until more than 11 minutes into the game.
As foul trouble injuries decimated the Beavers' post depth, Tres Tinkle played extensive minutes at center and finished with game-highs of 24 points (8 of 11) and six rebounds in his first regular season action since a broken wrist forced him to miss 26 games last year and earn a medical redshirt.
