CORVALLIS – Oregon State handled Prairie View A&M on Friday to open the 2016-17 season at Gill Coliseum, beating the Panthers 78-58.
Key run: The Beavers started slow while failing to exploit their size advantage and fell into an early 7-2 hole at the first media timeout. But after going with a smaller lineup and closing the gap, they went on a 17-2 run over a span of six minutes and 56 seconds to open up a 25-11 lead.
It was over when: Prairie View A&M guard Shaquille Preston was called for a technical foul off the ball when he hit Oregon State sophomore Tres Tinkle in the mouth.
