Omar Speights is the highest rated player in the Beavers 2019 recruiting class. The younger brother of current Beav, Jeromy Reichner, is a Philadelphia native; that made the cross-country journey to live with his brother and escape the ever-present threat of gun violence in the Philadelphia area. Omar transferred at the beginning of his senior year to Crescent Valley and with almost zero time to get acclimated had a huge impact on that football team.
Speights is expected to play on the defensive line for the Beavers, but could also play outside linebacker. I’m hoping that Jeromy and Omar can form a ‘bash-brothers’ duo of sorts, but regardless of what happens I sure am glad these two are in Corvallis.
