CORVALLIS - An up-and-down first three quarters Friday afternoon marked an inauspicious start to the Oregon State women's basketball season, but the Beavers pulled away in the final frame for a 65-55 victory over North Dakota behind stellar performances from two key returners.

Key runs: Oregon State looked sluggish in the early going, missing six of its first seven shots, falling behind from the onset and trailing 9-6 with 5:21 to play in the first quarter. From there, the Beavers briefly took over with a 12-0 run. They made five consecutive shots, led by 10 points from reserve junior guard Taylor Kalmer.
