Seattle, Wash. – Oregon State’s Jasmin McKenzie (pictured) set a school indoor record and took third overall in the long jump on Saturday to pace a strong effort from the Beavers in the second and final day of the University of Washington Invitational, staged at the Dempsey Center.
A sophomore from Benson High School in Portland, McKenzie soared 18 feet, 9.50 inches to shatter teammate Kara Hallock’s old mark (18-3) by more than six inches. It was a PR by nearly 16 inches; her old best was 17-4.75.
Teammate Lucinda Howard, a senior from Summit High in Bend, placed fifth with the second-longest jump in school history, 18-7, a PR by 13 inches.
