backup quarterback Matt Moore had an opportunity to give his team a reason to consider him as the permanent starting quarterback Thursday night.

Instead, the former Oregon State star gave the Dolphins plenty of reasons to leave him as the backup. Moore, starting in place of the injured Jay Cutler, struggled all night long during the Dolphins 40-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on national television.

"We never expected the game to turn out like this," Moore told reporters after the game. "This one really stings."

The loss was the second shutout of the season for Miami, and the fifth-largest losing margin in franchise history.
